The West Adelaide Football Club would like to welcome Danny Deigan as our new High Performance Manager.
Danny has most recently been working as the Head of Sports Science for the New Zealand National Soccer team where he designed and implemented the physical performance framework in preparation for the Olympic Games (Tokyo 2020). Prior the role in Auckland, Danny spent four years with the Indian National Soccer team and also spent time with the Western Sydney Warriors in the A-League.
Originally from Sydney, Danny has worked across a broad range of sports at different levels, before having the chance to apply his skills and knowledge to these national teams. Given his experience and qualifications, Danny will have no issues transferring his skillset to Australian Rules football.
“Across my career so far I have been a part of several successful campaigns including a Youth World Cup (Round of 16), Football Olympic Games Qualification (Tokyo 2020), Pacific Games Gold Medal, Continental Representation, and Continental Regional Champions. I have also worked with several Olympians, National representatives, and medallists across a range of individual and team sports.”
“All my roles have involved the planning and implementation of evidence-based strength and conditioning programs and sports science strategies with the main aim of providing information to athletes, coaching staff and medical staff so we can work together towards the aim of improving performance”
“I look forward to working with Brad Gotch, all the staff and players to enhance the overall football program. This will have a strong focus on enhancing our players ability to physically implement our game plan, impact key moments and key passages in games, and meet the weekly and season demands of SANFL football.”
To attract someone with the experience of Danny is extremely pleasing and another step towards having the best football program in the SANFL.
