The West Adelaide Football Club are seeking a High Performance Manager to join the team for Season 2021 and beyond. Available for an immediate start, the role is a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate to make their mark in the football industry.

About the Club

West Adelaide Football Club has a proud history dating back to the 1890s and some of the greatest names in SA football history that have played for the Red & Black. The club has produced 14 Magarey Medal winners, 139 State Players and 146 WAFC players have been drafted into the AFL system.

We are determined to build the highest of performance cultures and aspire to have the best football program in the SANFL. West Adelaide has been and will continue to be a place where players can become the best athlete they can be.

About the Role

Reporting to the Football Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the successful physical preparation and performance of all our football teams (League, Reserves, Women, U/18’s & U/16’s). You will be fully accountable for the Senior Men’s League and Reserve teams and have an Strength & Conditioning Coach to be guided by your direction for the Women, U/18’s and U/16’s programs.

This will include:

  • Designing a modern and effective high-performance program across the pre-season, in-season and off season periods
  • Implementation of the program, including ongoing monitoring and validation of the program
  • Guiding the strength and conditioning program of our players to minimise risk of injury
  • Working with Club Doctors and Senior Physiotherapist to support the rehabilitation programs of injured players
  • Collaborating and coordinating with our coaching staff to maximize on-field performance
  • Upholding compliance requirments and the professional ethics of ASADA
  • Ensuring we have a suitable S&C coach to oversee our Under 18 & 16 programs and can be guided by your programs set for the club
  • Ability to use the club gym for personal use during non training times

About You

Success in this role demands that you must have experience leading a multi-disciplined team that is striving to become the best athletes they can be. Your experience will backed with a strong academic background that may have begun as a tertiary qualification in Exercise Science, Human Movement or similar field of study but most likely have evolved to include professional accreditation such as:

  • ASCA Level 3 PCAS Accredited S&C Coach

With the players being part time athletes the flexibility in understanding their day to day work life is important so players can still get the most out of their bodies and not be continually tired from work and football.
