The West Adelaide Football Club is pleased to announce the signing of former Hawthorn player, Kieran Lovell.
Lovell impressed as a junior at the Kingborough Tigers, going on to win Tasmania’s MVP at the under-18 national championships in 2015, as well as All Australian selection.
The 23 year old was then taken at pick number 22 in the 2015 AFL National Draft and was on Hawthorn’s list from 2016-2018 where he played 2 AFL games.
In 2018 Kieran played in the Box Hill Hawks Premiership along side current West Adelaide player Dallas Willsmore.
Kieran is an inside midfielder that can win the ball in tight as well as working hard to receive on the outside. He is known for his ability to take the game on and bring his team mates into the game.
When asked why he signed with West Adelaide, Kieran said, “I wanted a new challenge and the opportunity to test myself at a higher level again.”
“I have heard positive things about the club and feel that on field success isn’t far away.”
“I am excited to work hard during preseason to improve my strength and fitness and be a big contributor in every game I play.”
Lovell was looking forward to having Brad Gotch as his senior coach saying, “Brad has a terrific resume as a coach and player. I think there is plenty I can learn from him and he can really steer this club in the right direction.”
For the last two years the midfielder has been playing for his junior club, Kingborough Tigers in Tasmania.
Football manager Wayne Siekman said, “We are delighted to secure the signature of Kieran as the club has been working all year to get him to West Adelaide.”
“He is a player that will bolster our midfield stocks and give us further class in and around the contest.”
We welcome Kieran to the West Adelaide Football Club.
