The West Adelaide Football Club would like to inform all members and supporters that Mark Moody has handed in his resignation as Head Coach of our SANFLW team due to a recent health scare and increased work commitments.
Mark began coaching the club in the 2020 SANFLW season after coming off a successful stint as Assistant Coach in the Inaugural Adelaide Crows AFLW team, before taking Division 1 club Adelaide Uni to a Premiership in 2019. Mark is currently the program’s longest serving Head Coach closing out his 3rd year in charge.
Mark had instant success in his first year, taking the club to its first ever finals appearance during a COVID interrupted year before backing up in 2021 by taking the club to its first ever SANFLW Grand Final.
On his departure, Mark said “I love women’s football and love how women go about their footy. I’ve especially enjoyed their enthusiasm and passion for the game and their craft.” Mark has said that he is looking forward to watching on as a supporter and spending time with his grandchildren.
“Moods’ passion and love for women’s football has been evident in his time here at West Adelaide” said Female Program’s Manager, Haydn Ward. “His ability to build relationships with his players and staff make him a much-admired person around our footy club. Not too many people are selfless enough to offer up so much time and ask for very little in return. We are obviously sad to see Moods go but have no doubt that the impact he has made within our women’s program has left the club in a much better position than it was when he took over in 2019.”
CEO Conny Wilson has stated “Mark’s commitment to the players and club is evident. His drive to develop players and successful teams to reach success is infectious and has gone a long way at West Adelaide” said CEO Conny Wilson. “While Mark has stepped away from coaching, it is fantastic to hear that he will stay firmly planted to the Club. Thank you Mark for your service and support.”
Mark will coach his last game for the club against Woodville this Saturday afternoon, we wish Moods all the best with his future endeavors.
