Carmichael to Collingwood at pick 9 in the AFL Mid-Season Rookie Draft

The West Adelaide Football Club is very proud to announce that Josh Carmichael has been selected by Collingwood at pick 9 in the AFL Mid-season Draft. Carmichael was recruited to West Adelaide from Merbein, north of Mildura in the Sunraysia League, where he dominated in Season 2021.

Josh has had an immediate impact at the Bloods in 2022. Debuting in Round 1 against Sturt he has played all 8 games, and backed up his form by kicking 9 goals during these games. Having averaged 24.9 possessions a game and clearly one of the most promising young midfielders in the SANFL for 2022, the quick rise saw Josh awarded the Round 3 Powerade Breakthrough Player. Further recognition of his hard work and skill saw him selected to represent SA in the State game against WA in Perth.

Josh is a terrific young man and we wish him all the best for his AFL career.
