2019 Season Launch – Player Auction Lots

The auction lots are set for this Saturdays Season Launch Player Auction. *All bidding to be done during event

Lot 1:

Agostino, Jack – Jack who has now played over 50 games for the club and is looking to continue his career here at the Bloods. A member of the leadership group who has certainly had a great preseason.

Johnson, Isaac – Father-son product Isaac received the award for the best player of the finals for the Reserves in 2017. A long-raking left footer, Isaac has an exciting future with the club. Isaac made his league debut in 2018 and we are looking forward to Isaac playing more senior football in the near future. Isaac has certainly had a fantastic preseason.

Kirk, Kyle – Kyle Kirk was recruited from Dalyston on the recommendation of former player Brad Fisher. Kyle was described by Brad as a hard-working, strong-tackling, bullocking midfielder. Those of you who have watched the reserves last year would agree with Brad’s assessment of how Kyle plays the game. Kyle has moved to West Adelaide to develop his football further and play at a higher level. We are hoping for Kyle to crack it into the league side this season.

Lot 2:

Schiller, Josh – ‘Mr Reliable’, Josh Schiller is one of the leagues best at contested ball and clear­ances. Josh continues to get better and better. A product of the Riverland and part of our junior program, Josh is also a great role model for the younger players coming through. Josh played his 100^th game for the club last season against Sturt at Unley. Josh is looking for another consistent year in 2019 and has produced an outstanding preseason.

Karpany, Ken- If everything goes to plan Ken will play his 50^th league game for West Adelaide on indigenous round. Ken has certainly developed into a consistent league player and his forward pressure is outstanding. Ken quite often leads the 1%ers amongst the league players. Ken has had a fantastic preseason and is looking forward to a big 2019. Originally from the Riverland he certainly optimises hard work and perseverance pays off.

May, Sam – Sam has been part of the west Adelaide program since under 13’s. last season played his first reserves game and had a taste of senior football. Sam stopped a promising tennis career to further his football here at the bloods. Certainly an exciting prospect for the future and has enjoyed the challenges of a senior preseason.

Lot 3:

Ryan, Josh – the winner of last years most improved award for the league side, Josh has certainly shown that he can play on the key forwards of the league. His progress and development over the preseason has continued to be promising and with Jake Wilson returning home Josh will take on more responsibility as a key back for season 2019. Looking forward to another exciting season from Josh.

Noonan, Conor – Conor made a very promising debut for West Adelaide in round 3 against Central District. This game certainly showed he is certainly a promising player of the future. A very quick midfielder/ defender, Conor is a product of the club’s junior program who is working hard over the preseason and is looking forward to add to his league game tally in 2019.

Laube, Keelan – Keelan had a taste of league football last year making his debut against Norwood at Norwood. He was certainly an exciting player throughout the reserves and has demonstrated that his football is developing really well. Another big preseason should help Keelan to hopefully play more league football in 2019. Keelan certainly has an exciting future with the Bloods.

Lot 4:

Anderson, Aaron- 2018 was possibly Aaron’s best and most consistent season. After a knee reconstruction and a trip overseas he put in a big preseason and was rewarded with an excellent 2018. Aaron certainly established himself as one the most consistent and reliable players for West Adelaide and in the SANFL. Another ripper of a preseason from Aaron should hopefully see him have and even bigger and better 2019. Aaron is due to play his 50^th game for the club in Round 5.

Majok, Chol – Chol made his league debut in 2017 and in his first game against Norwood he was the league side’s best player. He is working incredibly hard to improve his game and has had a massive preseason. Chol was originally recruited from Flagstaff Hill, he will be looking for a big 2019 and wanting to add to the number of league games he has played.

Lynch, Tom – Tom has been an integral part of the Reserves team which has played in the finals the past two seasons. A tight-checking defender with a consistent and reliable kick, Tom is a hard worker on the track and will be looking to play league football in 2019.

Lot 5:

Middleton, Mason – Mason is gaining the reputation as one of the best forwards in the competi­tion. He is certainly high up in the stats for the league when it comes to contested marking. Mason is very quick for a key position player. Originally from Barmera Monash, he has gone from strength to strength in his 5 years of league football. We are all looking forward to what 2019 brings for Mason and hoping it is a big one.

Head, Dustin – Dustin made his long-awaited debut in 2017 and played more games during 2018.  Dustin is out on his own for the number of injuries and bad luck he’s suffered, but he makes up for all of this with persistence, endurance and determination. A product of the Mallee zone, everyone is looking for Dustin to continue his league career. After an excellent preseason it’s looking positive for Dustin to add to his league tally in 2019.

Gutsche Will- the Riverland has been an amazing area for West Adelaide in producing footballers. Will Gutsche could be another one. A Co captain of the under 18’s last year. Will has already played a few reserves games over the past seasons. A hard working midfielder who has shown further promise and potential throughout the preseason.

Lot 6:

Hill, Logan – Logan Hill has been high up in the voting for the Neil Kerley Medal for a number of years now.  Logan is one of the hardest working and most courageous footballers at the club. His perseverance is amazing and is now being rewarded by his fantastic performances. Logan has played a number of games for the club that would make the archives for great performances in the competition. Logan has put in another big preseason and should have another fantastic 2019. If all goes to plan Logan will play his 150^th game for the club this season.

Waite, Murray – Murray Waite is in his fourth season with the club. The first two years Murray wasn’t able to fully complete preseason. The past two seasons Muzza has been one of the best performers on the training track for preseason. Some of his running results have been at an extremely high level. Murray will be really hoping for a big season in 2019 to add to his league game tally.

Osborn, Nigel – Nigel has suffered some major injuries in the past and worked really hard to play some reserves football last season. The first recipient of the Bloods Footy award nominated by the players in 2019. Nigel is well liked by his team mates and is certainly leaving no stone unturned on the track.

Bentley, Scott- recommended by Chris Schmidt, Scott has played as a midfielder for Nuriootpa in the Barossa and Gawler Light League. Scott is looking to develop his football further so has decided to give the SANFL a go and has chosen West Adelaide to pursue that opportunity. Scott has certainly had an impressive preseason and will add to our mid field depth.

Lot 7:

Noble, John – John has become a consistent member of the West Adelaide side. He is an accurate shot on goal and certainly tackles hard and provides excellent forward pressure. John has become one of the fans favourite and has certainly been working hard on the track in readiness for another exciting season in 2019. John is due to play his 50^th game for the club this season.

Hupfeld, Lyndon – Lyndon, from NSW and the Giants Academy, has been looking for a place to call home in Adelaide. We think he has found his home here at the Bloods. Recruited from Norwood where he played mainly in defence, Lyndon made his league debut in the red and black playing forward. Lyndon has had a very good preseason and would be hoping to add to his league game tally in 2019.

Fairlie, Patrick – Patrick has certainly become a consistent member of our reserves side. He has been named a league team emergency on a few occasions and is desperate to make it into the league side. Patrick can play either in defence or on ball, possesses a neat kick and is certainly a player of the future. A product of our junior program.

Bentley, James- recommended to us by Chris Schmidt. James has played some good football in the Barossa valley for Nuriootpa in the Barossa Valley and thought it was time to give the SANFL a crack and develop his football further. James can play either forward or back and will certainly add depth to our squad.

Lot 8:

Hugh Haysman- After an injury interrupted season in 2018 Hugh Haysman is back on the track looking bigger and stronger in readiness for a big season in 2019. Hugh is due to play his 50^th game for the club during season 2019. A 2015 premiership player it will be like having a new recruit and we are all hoping for an injury free 2019 for Hugh.

Turner Gibson- Gibson came to West Adelaide part way through season 2018. An exciting reserves game against Port saw him promoted to league football. Gibson then spent the rest of the season playing reserves football. Without having a preseason Gibson certainly showed enough talent that he could be a consistent league footballer. After a massive preseason Gibson is looking in outstanding condition and we are all hoping he can be an influence in our league side in 2019.

Stevens Reed- Joining his brother at West Adelaide Reed Stevens is hoping he can have as a successful career as Kaine. Reed played last year for the Canberra Demons in the NEAFL. Reed is also a midfielder who will be looking forward to the challenge of SANFL football in 2019.

Lot 9:

Willsmore, Dallas- Former Hawthorn player Dallas Willsmore has brought great excitement to West Adelaide players and fans. Dallas is an extremely talented player with a great left foot. An extremely balanced player who will certainly be an exciting prospect in the red and black in 2019. He works really hard on the track. Dallas has a great reputation and was chased by other SANFL clubs and VFL clubs but he chose to come to Milner road to continue his football and we couldn’t be happier.

Lot 10:

Levicki, Patrick- Over the years we have developed a strong rivalry against Norwood. Unfortunately Norwood have won more against but one of the reasons Norwood have beaten us in the past is now playing for the bloods. Patrick Levicki who has been in the past of one the league’s most consistent and reliable defenders strangely fell out of favour at Norwood. Patrick has joined the bloods and is having a positive impact on the playing group already. His professionalism and standards he sets are outstanding and it is going to be great having him run around in the red and black in 2019.

Batley, Nathan – Nathan was recruited from the Eagles at the start of 2017.  Nathan moved for more opportunities at league level. That certainly happened for him and he became a consistent player for the Bloods in 2017 and 2018. Nathan has certainly become a consistent performer at league level for West Adelaide. Nathan is due to play his 100^th SANFL league game in 2019 and we are looking forward to an even bigger 2019.

Evans, Lachlan – Lachlan Evans was a consistent and reliable defender for the Reserves through­out season 2017 and played a large part in the side making the Grand Final. Lachlan then went further in 2018 and made his league debut showing great promise as a defender. Lachlan is a product of the club’s junior program Lachlan will be keen to add to his league tally in 2019.

Lot 11:

Parrella, Andre – Andre has certainly helped bolster our ruck stocks. Recruited from Sturt.  Andre was previously a tennis player and took up football later in his childhood. In 2015 he played Under 18 state football and was under consideration by a number of AFL clubs. Andre has fitted in really well at the Bloods and is looking forward to playing more league football in season 2019.

Pillion, Tom – Tom made his league debut in 2017 and added to his tally further in 2018. Tom is a promising prospect up forward. He is able to take a contested mark and is accurate in front of goal. Tom has performed very well throughout the preseason and will be looking forward to playing more league football in 2019.

Inglis, Jonty – Originally from Loxton North in the Riverland, Jonty is an incredibly hard worker around the club. He gains a number of possessions while playing in the midfield. Jonty has worked really well to improve his disposal and will be looking for a big 2019, after an injury interrupted 2018.

Haysman, Gus- Brother of Hugh, Gus has been part of the West Adelaide program since under 13’s. He has had to deal with a number of injuries over the years along with college football stopping him from playing more football for the bloods. Clean user of the ball has certainly put in the hard yards with his first senior preseason.

Lot 12:

Wasley-Black, Errin – Errin is now entering his fifth year at the club and has played over 50 games for the club. Having established himself as an integral part of the league team, Errin has had a great pre-season and is looking forward to a big season in 2019.

Turner, Brett – Brett has played most of the past few seasons in the league side and has promised big­ger and better things in 2019. He has been working really hard on the track and will be looking to spend some more time on the ball in the future. Brett is a product of the club’s junior program who is establishing himself as a household name in the SANFL and is due to play his 50^th league game for the club in season 2019.

Patterson, Cooper- Son of past player Paul, Cooper certainly had an outstanding season in 2018 as part of our under 18 program. Cooper played mainly in defence and would most likely be looking to take up a defensive position in senior football in 2019. Has certainly put in an impressive preseason and is looking forward to the next step in his football career.

Lot 13:

Cleeland Jade- Over the years West Adelaide have had some excellent recruits wear this number. Joel Tippet, Andrew Hayes and Jake Wilson all wore number 12. This year another recruit jade Cleeland wears number 12. Jade has been recruited from Werribee and the Wangaratta Magpies to help play a role up forward and pinch hit in the ruck. Jade has fitted in very well amongst his team mates at Westies and has hit the training track very hard. We are all looking for an exciting debut season from Jade at the Bloods

Dunkin, Elliot – Elliot is described by a number of pundits at Westies as perhaps the best kick in the club. A product of the junior program, Elliot has performed very well during a number of Reserves matches and was rewarded with two league games last year. A very exciting prospect and certainly a player of the future, who will be looking to add to his league tally in season 2019.

Rana, Angus- Promising ruckman Angus Rana was part of the AFL tall players program in 2018. Angus played a number of reserves games in 2018 and had to on a number of occasions play against ruckman who were way more experienced. A senior preseason in 2019 should see Angus continue to develop and progress his football further.

Lot 14:

Bates, Zac – Zac showed on a number of occasions last season the excitement he possesses and why he was drafted to Geelong at such a young age. He is an extremely talented footballer and, if he can keep his body sound, is a player who can influence results and help win games for the mighty Bloods. Looking for a big 2019 from Zac.

Evans, Jack – Jack has worked so hard on his footy over the years to make his league debut in 2016. He also played a few games in 2017. A previous Under 18 Captain, Jack has shown great character and resilience to make it to where he is now. He will be looking to add to his senior games tally in 2018. Jack has had a promising preseason and is looking forward to playing more league football in 2019.

Morrish, Tom- Recommended to us by past player Luke Nathan. Tom has certainly impressed on the track with his clean hands and accurate kicking. He has certainly taken on the challenge of a SANFL preseason and will certainly be handy around the goals. Tom is looking forward to the challenges of SANFL football.

Klemke, Jayden – another country footballer looking to further his football career in the SANFL. Brother of Ben, Jayden joins us from the Collingullie Glenfield Park Football Park. Jayden has been prominent in the local league best and fairest and also his club best and fairest. Jayden will certainly ad to our midfield depth.

Lot 15:

Beech, Jono – it has been great having Jono Beech back at the Bloods. A fantastic player who has spent two years on the Crows’ list. During 2019 Jono suffered a number of injuries particularly early which meant for a difficult 2018. He played an outstanding game against Port kicking 7 goals. Jono has had an excellent preseason and is looking forward to a great 2019.

Lot 16:

Snelling, Will- it’s always very exciting when a player returns home from a stint with the AFL, and Will Snelling is no exception. Will spent 3 years on Port Adelaide’s list. Will is the reigning A.R Mclean medallist and is probably hoping for a big season and potentially winning some other medals in 2019 to go with his 2015 premiership medal. It is so exciting having Will back and we are looking forward to an exciting 2019 for Will.

Lot 17:

Schmidt, Chris – Another favourite son returns in 2019 with Chris Schmidt coming back after a season away in 2018. Chris returns with so much experience and leadership. 2015 premiership captain has performed very well on the training track and showed great balance and ball use. Having Chris return will be a great asset for the bloods in 2019.

Gallaway, Tom- recommended by Chris Schmidt Tom has followed him over to the bloods in 2019 after playing for North Albury in 2019. Tom has played against some key forwards in the Ovens and Murray League and will certainly help add to our defence in season 2019. Tom is looking forward to the challenges of SANFL football.

Lot 18:

Keough, Tom – 2019 Captain Tom Keough has great respect amongst his peers and opponents throughout the SANFL. Tom can play both ends of the ground and his voice and encouragement of his players is outstanding. Tom showed his true versatility last season when Gavin played him on the ball. One of the best blokes you would ever meet and very proud of the fact he is West Adelaide’s next captain. Tom has had an outstanding preseason. Tom should play his 100^th game for West Adelaide during 2019.

Lot 19:

Stevens, Kaine – Last year’s Neil Kerley Medallist making it back to back wins. Each year Kaine gets better and better and he is quickly becoming one of the elite midfielders of the competition. He is very dangerous around goals and has a great engine in the midfield. Another favourite of the fans and is looking for a great 2019 and if he takes his game to the next level you never know he could be wearing a different medal at the end of the year. Kaine is due to play his 100^th game for the club in season 2019.
