The West Adelaide Football Club wishes to announce that Murray Forbes has retired from the Board of Directors as of Wednesday May 31st 2023.
Murray has served as President since February 2019, overseeing the Club and its strategic direction, while also resetting the composition of the Board and governance practices.
“It has been a remarkable journey, and the support that I have enjoyed from the other directors, staff and stakeholders has been valued. As we enter a new phase in our development, I felt it was appropriate to hand over the leadership to ensure we can continue to progress our objectives with passion and integrity. I feel that it is the right time to step back and make way for someone to drive our vision. I look forward to continuing to support the Club however I can”.
The West Adelaide Football Club is pleased to announce that John Kantilaftas has been appointed to the role of President. John joins the board with a wealth of experience in business, innovation and strategy. Three time West Adelaide best and fairest player, having played 134 SANFL games for the Club, he was awarded Life Membership in 2021. John was also CEO of the West Adelaide and Woodville West Torrens Football Clubs. John will be transitioning into the role during the coming weeks.
‘“I am honoured to accept the role of President with the West Adelaide Football Club. As a former player and administrator, I aim to further build upon the work undertaken by the outgoing President Murray Forbes, and those before him. I look forward to working with the Board and CEO as we continue to rebuild and set ourselves up for success in the SANFL competition. I would like to thank Murray for his work to advance the Club. His leadership in moving the Club forward was evident through his unwavering commitment to ensure the interests of the Club were always first and foremost in his decision making, his actions and his loyalty to West Adelaide. I am excited to be taking on the challenge and look forward to meeting and reconnecting with many of our supporters in the coming weeks”.
