Wow, what a turnaround from two weeks ago, we were hard at the ball all day and we didn’t allow Norwood any space. We made some minor amendments to our structures which in the end paid big dividends. Westies had 5 goals on the board before Norwood could register a goal, this was due to our pressure all over the ground, and our tackling was superb. We had good players all over the ground no more than Ashlea James up forward she was fantastic, her work rate was very good and her forward pressure was very good, also Emma Smith efforts off the wing were outstanding and our AFLW players were fantastic, Stevie Lee kicked 3 goals and her pace and experienced caused Norwood issues all day. Maddi Newman was again outstanding, Chelsea Biddell was again very strong in the air and her goal kicking was superb Rachelle Martin, Abbie Ballard, Zoe Venning and Zoe Greer were outstanding in the midfield, their ability not to allow Norwood space at stoppages was fantastic.
Kate Walsh again did a great job in the ruck considering we didn’t know whether she would get up for the game, Nicole Hooper got a late call up into the team and caused havoc for the Norwood defenders her 2 goals were great reward for Nicole’s effort to get back from injury, her hardness and strength in the air was very good. ALL of the defenders played very well and again showed the competition that they are the best in the league. Overall it was a great team performance, everyone who represented our club on Sunday contributed in some way. We move our mindset to South, who gave North a run for their money. One win away from the ultimate a grand final spot. Go Bloods
