Westies resumption got off to the right start with a 17 point win over Eagles. After making five changes through injuries and the inclusion of AFLW players we got off to a slow start but in the end we held off a very improved side.
It wasn’t a pretty game. Eagles were determined to take away our space and for the majority they did that, we did at times look very good when we found space and quick movement into our forwards.
Once again our onballers were good, led by Rachelle Martin and Zoe Greer, Kate Walsh once again outstanding in the ruck.
Our forwards were blessed with opportunities, however we didn’t help ourselves with overcrowding in the arc. The backs were very good, led by Maddi Newman & Keeley Kusterman.
Overall we did enough to see off the Eagles and move a game clear of the 4th spot team and half game from second.
Another interesting week at the selection table this week, with injured players ready to come back and player match ups to be considered and the unfortunate injuries to Amelie Finnimore (knee) and Nicole Hooper (calf)
