Keough to Lead the Pack Again in 2020

Tom Keough will continue his captaincy of the West Adelaide Football Club for the third year in 2020.

Senior coach Gavin Colville said, “Tom was again an overwhelming choice for the captaincy. He is professional, hardworking and a team first player.”

“He has the trust of his peers and the coaching staff. We are very lucky to have Tom leading our playing group in 2020.”

Tom is an outstanding leader and we look forward to him captaining the club in 2020.

2019 Neil Kerley medallist Logan Hill will again be vice-captain. “Everyone looks up to Logan and we are extremely lucky to have a person like him around West Adelaide” said Colville.

New this year to the leadership group is Patrick Levicki and Aaron Anderson.

Speaking about Patrick, Gavin Colville said, “In only his second year at the Club, Pat has been rewarded for his dedication to his training and his positive influence on the group. Always looking to help others, he continually shows natural leadership characteristics.”

Aaron Anderson is also new to the leadership group. “Ando has spent a huge part of his life at West Adelaide and will be a fantastic addition”.

Colville said, “After a challenging 2019, Aaron has role modelled a ruthless approach to training over the preseason.”

“His determination to succeed has seen him impress those around him. Aaron is a passionate Westies man and it is wonderful to see his hard work be rewarded.”

Josh Schiller, Jack Agostino, and Kaine Stevens will also continue in the leadership group after being voted in by the players.

Over the past two seasons the coaches and player leaders have invested their time and energy in helping each other clarify the standards we want to be known for creating a team culture that will ultimately provide a foundation that will be the bedrock of consistent success in the future.

Leadership and Culture Coach Nick Takos said, “Last year was a good example of strong leadership from our leadership group. Despite the challenges faced by the club, they remained authentic in their leadership; consistent values-based actions, strong communication, and a genuine care for the club, its players, coaches, members and fans.”

“There is a high level of trust by the playing group in these leaders, and a confidence they will lead by example, help others in their development, and hold everyone within the team accountable to the high standards. This has been evidenced already in pre-season training.”

“I also congratulate all of the new players this season on their willingness to accept the challenges thrown at them, and also the unbelievable effort shown by our existing players to ensure they feel welcomed, and to help them come up to speed with the high standards that define our Bloods Footy culture.”

“I am confident in these young men who are leading the way, and I strongly believe that no matter what problem or challenge is thrown their way, they will work together in a united fashion to find a solution, and proudly represent you our valued supporters.”
