On Sunday, 9th February the West Adelaide Football Club travelled to Pinnaroo for their Under-16 Centre of Excellence Internal Trial match in preparation for the start of their season in 3 weeks time.
‘We always like travelling to our country regions and the annual under-16 game in the Mallee is a highlight for all involved’ – West Adelaide Talent Manager Paul Streatfield said. ‘We have a number of players who travel each week from the Mallee to train and play and we feel it is important that our city-based players fully understand the commitment and time required to do this’.
Annually the internal trial is utilised by West Adelaide as a method of assessing the depth and talent in the squad, teaching game-plan in preparation for the season, as well as providing player development and feedback on an individual basis.
‘Pinnaroo were fantastic hosts on the day and we thank them along with the Mallee Football League and the local umpires for allowing us the opportunity to enjoy a great day. Overall we were very happy with the standard of the match and it gave us great insight in to the team and individual players for the season ahead’.
The West Adelaide Under-16 season begins on Friday, 6th March against North Adelaide at Hisense Stadium (Richmond).
