West Adelaide players John Noble and Will Snelling have been drafted in the first mid-season draft for 26 years.
John Noble was on the brink of being dropped from Westies a few years ago, at 180cm and 72kg his size has always been a concern for coaches.
John would often go out of his way to organise meetings with the coach to see how he could improve his game. He is one of the most hardworking and determine players we have at Westies.
In the past two and a half seasons John has improved beyond all expectations and is now a regular league player. Season 2019 so far has seen John produce some of the best football of his career. This form has been noticed by the Collingwood as he has been selected in the mid season draft at pick 14.
CEO Ben Hopkins said “ We are extremely happy for these players to get their shot at playing AFL football”
“We will certainly miss John as he’s been an important player so far this year. We’re always disappointed to lose great people from Westies, but we wish John all the best with his AFL career.”
Will Snelling will get another crack at AFL after being selected by Essendon at pick 7.
Will was an important recruit when he returned to West Adelaide after three years on the rookie list at Port Adelaide.
In season 2019 so far, Will has slotted into our midfield seamlessly and has been best on ground multiple times.
We wish him all the best at Essendon
